Rosary Care

How to Care For Your Flexwire Rosary

If you use your rosary for praying, and store it away from excessive moisture, extreme temperatures or direct sunlight, and harsh chemicals, it should last a lifetime!

Plated metal will darken or wear off over time—this is normal. But it will darken or wear off sooner with abrasion or exposure to moisture or harsh chemicals.

To clean, simply wipe with a damp cloth. To get between the beads, use a damp cotton swab. Then wipe dry.

Store it in a soft pouch, box, or dedicated drawer when not in use to prevent scratches or tangling.

Wire that has been curled up a long time may curl, bend or kink slightly. Gently shake it out.

Here are some things to avoid:

Avoid wearing it around your neck. This poses a strangulation hazard!! But also, this is the main way I’ve seen rosaries break. The flex wire has a 26 pound test strength, but more than that, it’ll snap.

Keep out of reach of babies and toddlers.  Rosaries have small parts that present choking hazards. Small children are rough on rosaries! I’ve seen nice silicone rosaries made especially for small children.

Avoid swinging the beads around, as you could hit a hard object with them or drop them. Gemstones or glass can chip or break if hit against a hard surface.

Avoid winding or bending too tightly, as this could put too much pressure on the crimp beads and break them or wear them down over time, or kink the wire. If you want to carry your rosary in your pocket or a purse, I recommend carrying it in a hard case.

Avoid submerging it in water. This could cause the wire to weaken or break down over time. If it happens accidentally, just dry it off. You might even consider sealing it in a bag of rice for a day or two.
